“What characteristics will make someone successful in your environment?”
I hold an interview with every candidate that is hired in my organization no matter what level or team they join.
Usually only lasts 10-20 minutes, but I want to meet everyone we are going to hire.
This week I met a candidate for our Support team and he asked me that very insightful question above 👆🏼
Here was my answer:
Energy
No “Eeyores” allowed; Bring everything you have every day
Energizer
Help energize your team mates as well
Edge
Make good decisions, quickly
Execution
Get the job done, no excuses
Passion
Bring a growth mindset and curiosity
A good enough list, so I thought.
Then this guy completely blew my mind…
He said, I think I’d add “coachability” to your list. “I’m willing to take feedback and coaching and use it to improve myself and the company.”
Spot on.. Feedback is a gift.
Actively seeking it is the sign of a true pro.
So now I’ll be adding a “C” to the 4Es and a P.
